Makeup tag

Hi there!

Today I’m sharing a makeup tag with you. I thought it would be a fun way to share some of my favorite products and my thoughts on makeup in general. I picked a few questions I’ve found on other makeup tags. Enjoy!

What foundation do you use?

My favorites at the moment are Wake Me Up foundation from Rimmel London and Ultra Light Foundation from Make Up Store

How about concealer

I use Collection Lasting Perfection. A great drugstore option.

What do you think of fake lashes?

I love lashes! Natural, extensions or false lashes… For everyday use I only turn to the mascara, but when it’s time to spice up the makeup for a party or evening out I love to put on some extra umpf with false lashes.

What brand of mascara do you use?

I love mascara overall and love to try out new ones. My all time favorites are Diorshow and Lancôme Grandiôse. I frequently use the Loreal Volume Million Lashes as well.

What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?

I’m a brush-girl so I use brushes for everything. My favourites are from Peggy Sage and Emite Makeup.

Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

Usually not if I’m just heading for work for a few hours, but if I need the makeup to last all day or for a party makeup, ALWAYS!

For the face?

For special occasions, yes, but usually I just make sure to moisturise the face before applying foundation and I find that good enough.

What is your favorite eyeshadow?

AH! This one is impossible! I love love love the Urban Decay Naked Smokey. And Nude Tude from The Balm. And all my Sleek palettes. And the eye dusts from Make Up Store. And the Makeup Academy palettes. No, I’m not doing this! I can’t pick a favorite.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?

I’m a true kohl pencil girl, but recently I found the Precision Liquid Eyeliner Pencil from the Flawless by Sonya collection from Forever Living so the liquid is finally starting to grow on me as well.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

Haha! I love this question. I’ve been using the kohl liner for about 13 years now, so I could probably apply it without a mirror without poking my eye now. But when I was younger and started to learn it happened more frequently.

What is your favorite lipstick/lipgloss?

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks (Love the shade on 09 for example) and Make Up Store Lipglosses

What is your favorite blush to use?

Makeup Revolution Blush in colour Love

Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?

Did consider it and did do it. The class I take was pretty basic, focused on beauty, to be able to do wedding and party makeups and work in a makeup store. I would LOVE it if I could take a more advanced class for fashion photos and runway in the future.

Name a makeup crime that you hate.

For me there aren’t really rights and wrongs in makeup, as long as the one wearing the makeup is comfortable with it. BUT, I would lie if I said I didn’t want to go blend peoples’ makeup pretty much daily. Contour and eyeshadows in particular.

Could you ever leave the house without makeup on?

Yes, I do that all the time! I have very sensitive skin and from time to time it really doesn’t want me to wear makeup. At these times I usually prefer go without any makeup at all for six days a week to be able to go all in the last day just to get the satisfaction of a full face makeup. Even when my face has a good period and accepts the makeup I go without it quite often, either out of laziness or lack of time. That being said, I can just as easily do a party makeup even if I’m not leaving the house at all. Just for fun!

makeup tag no makeup

This is me today, completely makeup free. The only products I’m wearing on this picture is moisturizers for face, eyes and lips.

Do you think you look good without makeup on?

Well, we all have our good days and bad days and just as anyone I have my flaws, but overall I’m confident with the way I look.

What do you think of makeup?

For me makeup is my passion. It’s a way to express my creativity, and I love to start off with the face as a blank canvas and see the transformation. I love to play with colours and find ways to exenterate the natural beauty of the person in front of me (or myself, of course). I don’t think anyone to use makeup to hide behind, but I love how makeup can give you that little extra boost to feel like the best version of yourself as long as you’re confident with the person underneath.

Review: Yves Rocher – Nail Polish Speaking colours

Hey guys!

If you read my blog post about my latest Glossybox, you might know that I got two nail polishes from Yves Rocher. Since I’m a big fan of nail polishes I was really happy, but the excitement was about two nice colours and a nail polish in general. Not did I know that I would write this post to let you all know a new love in my life.

Description of the product from Glossybox that followed the nail polish (my translation from Swedish)

High quality 5free nail polishes contains elemiharts, which gives high gloss and lasting quality. Comes in over 50 colours inspired by the endless botanical colour palette.

My first impressions

When I first saw the bottle I wasn’t overly excited. The colours were nice, but the packaging wasn’t thrilling when you just saw the two polishes in the box.

I chose to try the pink one first, 24. Rose Dalhia, and the first nice surprise was a wide, flat, brush that was really easy to work with. The colour got nice and even without struggle. The coverage was great too. I chose to go over with two coats, as I always do, but it looked quite good with just the first one. It dried quickly and it looks really nice and shiny even when it’s dry.

I also really liked the colour of Rose Dalhia. It’s a summery pink shade, but not too bright. This, to me, makes it feel like a more adult shade of hot pink.

Lasting quality

I’m allergic to chips. I can’t stand it when the nails are starting to look messy. Usually I can wear a polish 2-3 days before I have an urge to remove and repaint. This is the main reason I can go completely without nail polish in long periods. When I have a lot on my plate, I just find it too time consuming. With the Yves Rocher polishes, this is no longer an issue.

The picture bellow shows what my nails looked like after one week’s of use. It had only start to chip, and friends of mine, that aren’t as picky as me, could easily have gone at least a day or two more. I have never ever tried a nail polish that works this great for me.

Final thoughts

I’m overly impressed by this nail polishes. I praised them to the skies at home for the high shine and impressing lating quality. It wasn’t too many days before Martin came home with a gift box with three more colours to a collection that will keep on growing. As I saw the five bottles together I started to like the packaging more as well. Even though it might look a bit boring with just one or two, a collection makes you realize they let the colours talk for themselves.

Another plus for me is the size of the bottles (5ml). I like that they aren’t too big. That way the prices can be kept lower and you can buy even more colours instead. There’s also a chance you’ll actually be able to use a whole bottle some day. And I don’t find it too small either, so you should be able to use it a fair amount of times before it’s time to replace.

I find the price very reasonable as well. 59 SEK/Bottle. (A little less than $7). For that price you get outstanding quality that I’ve yet to find among the more expensive brands.

Have you tried these nail polishes? Did you like them? Do you have another favorite brand you’d like to share? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.

£15 Makeup Challenge

Hi there,

As I mentioned in my last post I recently visited London. Me and my sister have been doing this trip once a year since we were old enough to go by ourselves. This year we decided to do a £15 Makeup Challenge. The rules were simple:

  • Get as many things from the list (that will follow) as possible. You’re not allowed to excess the agreed limit of £15.
  • You have to buy from at least three different brands
  • Find as good products as possible. If you’ve tried a brand before and find it crap, don’t buy it just to check a point of the list.

Find as many products you can from the list:

  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Bronzer
  • Highlighter
  • Blush
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner
  • Something for eyebrows
  • Eyeshadow
  • Lipstick/Lipgloss/Lip pen

(I’ve dropped the list we wrote, but I think that was everything)

We went to do our challenge at Superdrug, since we found that was the best place for this challenge. I must say we did quite good. Unfortunately I never got a picture of what I bought for my sister, but I have one of what she got me.

Makeup challenge

As you can see, Makeup Academy is really dominating this challenge. Not surprising, since it’s a cheap brand and we’ve been really happy with the eye shadow palettes we got last year. She managed to get almost everything on the list. The only things missing is mascara, products for eyebrows and highlighter. (All though, she thought it through and got me an eyeshadow palette with a white shimmery colour that could be used as a highlighter). Neither of us bought mascaras and that was almost agreed in advanced. My boyfriend has bought me quite a few high end mascaras, so I probably wouldn’t use a mascara that was cheap enough to fit in this challenge. She has really straight eyelashes and uses one special mascara that she has find works for her, so she wouldn’t use a mascara I could find either so we used the money for better purposes. Now that I’ve taken my pictures of all these things I’m excited to start trying them out!

Have you done this challenge? Did you find a favorite drugstore product by doing it? Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Glossybox June

Hi there!

Long time, no see. Again. It’s crazy how time flies at the moment. Since last time I wrote I’ve been working hard getting my company up and running, I’ve been to London, Crete and on a few tiny adventures in Sweden. I’ve been packing and unpacking moving box after moving box to get our new flat become our new home. There is still job to do, but at least we’re getting there.

Since I really do want to get back to blogging I thought I’d take a soft and easy start and just blog the Glossybox that arrived before the weekend. I thought the box, designed by Carolina Gynning, was so beautiful it deserved to be shown. The content was quite good as well, I must say!

Glossybox June

  • Sebastian Professional Re-shaper – Hair spray with medium hold. You’re supposed to be able to brush it out and re-shape the hair for 18 hours. I haven’t tried it yet, and it will probably just go down in a drawer for a while, since it’s a perfect traveling size to save for later.
  • Yves Rocher Botanical Colour Nail Polis – I got mine in pink and purple. These shades really remind me of Barbie colours and makes me a bit nostalgic! Can’t wait to try them!
  • Lulu DK Wonderland Jewelry Tattoos – I’ve been wanting to try these jewelry tattoos for a while, but never got myself to buy them. This is something I consider buying for my company if I expand in the ways I’m planning, so I’m hoping for a good experience!
  • Elisabeth Mott Tints & Sass – A cheek and lip tint that smells like cherries. I’m not a big fan of tints since before, but perhaps this one will change my mind.
  • Medusa’s Make-up Eyeshadow – A mineral eyeshadow in the colour Maneater. It looks so lovely. A bit dark at the moment, but I think it can be a favorite for fall!

Green and Yellow Makeup

Hi there!

Because of everything going on with changing jobs and moving house there isn’t time for many new projects at the moment. I still really want to get back to blogging properly, because that’s something I really love and have been missing a lot lately. As I was going through the pictures on my computer to see if I could find pictures to send for marketing of my new job I found a few pictures from my education that I thought might be worth sharing here.

One of our home works during my makeup education was to do a yellow and green makeup, so I thought I would show you a before  and after picture of my work. This was an early home work, so there are things I’ve learnt now that I would have done differently now or worked harder on. For example this was before I learnt how to work around my asymmetricals in the face. I do think I did quite a good job covering up all the redness I got during the winter though.

As I get my makeup space in the new apartment in just a few weeks, this is a look I will recreate to see my improvement since I did this look.

Since this look was made a few months ago, I’m not sure on all the products used but at least the eye shadows are from Makeup Revolution (144 colours Ultimate Eye Shadow Collection).

Don’t miss out on my giveaway because of the launching of my new Instagram account Beauty by Anna S. I’m giving away a lipstick and a lip pen in my favorite colour at the moment, and a palette from Makeup Revolution.

Get ready for launch party!

Hi everyone,

As I wrote in my last blog post I’ve been working on something in secret for a while. It’s now time to reveal my secret.

I’ve decided to leave my job in the lingerie store. I will be working there for three more weeks, but then it’s time for me to move on. I’ve gotten an opportunity to borrow a salon, which I will be looking at next week, where I’ll be able to work with eyelash extensions in the weekends. I will also be getting a makeup room in our new apartment where I will be able to do lash extension as well as working with makeup.

Since I will be spending a lot of time doing what I love, I’ve decided to create a beauty inspired Instagram account to show my work. The blog will stay the way it is, with a mix of beauty, lifestyle, travel and fashion and you will be able to follow my blog Instagram and Twitter as well, but the new account will be beauty only as a part of my new job.

At the day of my exam to become a lash stylist, 22 April, I will launch the account name and throw a giveaway to celebrate with you all!

Hoping you will join me on this new adventure!

Gift Card Shopping

Hi everyone!
For my birthday and Christmas I got gift cards at my favorite makeup store from Martin’s parents. Since I was forbidden to buy more makeup between my birthday and Christmas, I saved them both to spend during the sales, and that was a great move! During two days after Christmas they had 20% off ALL makeup! I decided to order online, since they had more brands there in the stores I had time to visit. Since I got quite a lot of makeup for Christmas, and will be getting a whole lot in my “school bag” in just a few weeks, I wanted to go for some high end brands instead of s big quantity for the money. The parcel arrived with the mail today!

Kicks Januari

Just have a look at all the goodies above, before we move on to the close ups!

Mac Powder

First out is a translucent Prep+Prime powder from Mac. I haven’t tried any products from Mac yet, since they are quite expensive here, and I really needed a new powder. This had gotten good reviews on the store’s page, so I decided to try it out.

Mac Vanilla Sketch Velvet

Of course I also had to try out their eyeshadows. If I like them I will buy more next time I go to USA. Major difference in price! I got them in the colours Skecth Velvet and Vanilla. I wanted to go for one basic, and one coloured. I had a really hard time deciding on the colour, so I actually thought I had ordered another one, but Sketch Velvet does look really nice so I’m not at all disappointed with this one.

Smashbox Prism

Another brand I’ve been eager to try is Smashbox. Here I went for a highlighter in the colour Prism. It’s a very light pink, but very pigmented, so I think it would do good as a summer blush too, for a very light and fresh look.

Michael Kors Bronzer

Last, but not least, I went for the Michael Kors Bronzer in Glow. My sister had wished for this one for Christmas, and got it from our mother. As soon as I saw it I realized I needed to have it as well. It doesn’t only look beautiful, it smells fantastic too. Pure luxury!

Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Makeup Revolution – Pink and brown

Hi there!

Since I’ve been having trouble with my eyes and eyelids for a couple of days I haven’t had the chance to try out all the makeup I got from Makeup Revolution the other day. But yesterday everything seemed fine, so today I was ready to give it a go. I’ve used eye shadows from the Ultimate Eyeshadow Collection, and was really happy with how they came out. The pigment was good, and they were easy to build up and blend. The lipstick is also from Makeup Revolution and is Liphug in colour She’s up all night. The lipstick also has great pigment and is easy to apply. I think it lasts good for a £2.50 lipstick, so I will definitely be buying more of these in the future.

Before I started I had decided for a neutral look, with matte brown shadows, since I was just staying at home. When I picked up my palette that was an impossible mission though. There were so many fun colours, and I just wanted to play around. I ended up with something in between and went for brown and pink.

BeFunky_IMG_2095.jpg Makeup Revolution look 1.2

I know these pictures are far from the best out there, and I’m really struggling to catch the eye makeup on photo. The colours just won’t come to it’s right. I truly hope they will help us with this in school since a lot of our work will be done at home and photographed to show the teachers. If you have any good tips and tricks how practice until then, please let me know!
